The Alpines

So slow and boring that I stopped paying attention multiple times. It stays that way until the last 30 minutes where the tension ramps up out of nowhere. Those 30 minutes were okay, but still not great. I didn't understand the ending, so I looked it up and surprisingly, the writer was answer questions on Reddit. According to them, [spoiler] the events in the movie are supposed to be taking place in purgatory, and the final scene with Zach once again in his therapist's office indicates that an infinite time loop is happening. Zach and his friends, representative of the seven deadly sins, will never be able to escape this time loop, due to the downfalls of the sin each of them inhabit. [/spoiler] [spoiler] Going off this explanation, the intended plot of the movie does seem interesting, but the execution is quite poor. Also, not all the characters die, so I don't understand how all of them can be in purgatory. [/spoiler] All in all, an okay premise that plays out poorly and ends with little payoff. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, but I don't regret watching it either.
