If you ever needed a lesson in not listening to reviewers and making your own mind up about a movie, this is it. The Suicide Squad is brought to life by David Ayer in this summer blockbuster. It is 2+ hours of hard hitting FUN, with incredible portrayals of comic book favourites. Will Smith IS Deadshot, Margot Robbie IS Harley Quinn, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje IS Killer Croc, Jai Courtney IS Captain Boomerang... and The Joker??? I WANTED MORE!!! Well the biggest compliment I can pay to Jared Leto is that I didn't think about Heath Ledger once, it was a completely different yet interesting portrayal.

In this fun action flick, the bad guys are sent to take down a greater evil. Critics of the big bad in this movie seem to have completely missed the point. The big bad in this movie is merely a plot device, to help us get to see our protagonists form as a team. If anything the real villain of the piece is the one who forms this team of misfits. Amanda Waller is portrayed DIABOLICALLY by the incredible Viola Davis
and the part where she turns on and guns down her own employees is SHOCKING
. Complaining about the villain in a movie where the protagonists are bad guys is akin to complaining about the villain in Deadpool... THAT'S NOT THE POINT OF THE MOVIE!

This movie leaves you with a thirst for more of these characters, and some shots
such as when Will Smith is stood on top of a car and gunning down henchman after henchman after henchman
look like they have just been ripped out of a comic book and put on screen by the wonderfully talented David Ayer.

If you are a comic book fan, or a DC movies fan, heck even if you are just an average movie watcher... watch this movie! It is SO MUCH FUN!!!

UPDATE: Just seen the Extended Edition and I really enjoyed the new scenes. This extended version doesn't change the nature of the movie in the way the Ultimate Cut did for BvS but I found it let's the movie breathe a little and solves some of the editing problems people complained about. I still love the theatrical release but my recommendation is to watch the extended version of this movie!

@vinaldo7 "Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje IS Killer Croc"... how can you tell, the dud had about 3 lines
also about the bad guy comparison, the bad guy in Deadpool didn't really matter since the entire movie spends its time making Deadpool as likable as possible, Suicide Squad on the other hand makes Amanda Waller an idiotic psychopath that killed off her coworkers just because she forgot to tell them to leave the room. As for why she was written like this is quite obvious, they wanted to make Waller as bad as possible so that we would side with the squad, instead of just making the squad likable on their own merit.

@mokins 1. if you actually bothered to pick up a comic book or watch the animated series you would know why what you said about the number of killer crocs lines is incredibly ironic. 2. You disagree with my point about deadpool without paying attention to the actual point i made... which was that this baddie was simply a plot device, with the real big bad being waller... or in deadpools case, him overcoming his own personal demons. 3. Duh... the movie was from the perspective of BAD GUYS who you are supposed to become attached to... not LIKE, so their antagonist is OBVIOUSLY going to have to do something worse than them. Advising the makers of this movie to make assassins and criminals like deadshot more likable is frankly absurd to anyone who knows these characters.

Dude, don't like the movie, it's cool, you are entitled to your opinion but if you are going to criticise a review in the future, have a little think first. How about do something constructive write your own review and see how many people agree with your perspective?

Have a nice day.

@vinaldo7 1. i read comics that have a beginning and an end (so not superhero comics)
2. if your point is that Amanda Waller is the big bad of the movie then the movie is nowhere near a resolution since all the members of the squad(that aren't dead) are still under her control(but you know then they wouldn't be able to make 2 more movies), so whats the point then? that the movie is anti-climatic because the main bad guy wasn't dealt with?
3. yea i know that Amanda Waller had to do something that makes her more despicable then the squad, they should do it, but that doesn't change the fact that it shouldn't have been written like a low tier CW show instead of a 175 million dollar movie.
too be fair my expectations for this movie were ridiculously high before going in, if they have just taken assault on Arkam and made it live action i would have been happy, (a movie in which i may add Waller didn't do anything worse then the squad but still ended up being the villain as oppose to the squad)

@mokins 1. If you don't read superhero comics why comment on the quality of the portrayal of a character... that you admit you know nothing about?
2. Wrong. Harley Quinn is not under control. If you actually pay attention her bomb is diffused and she escapes in the end. They don't defeat the bad guy because in reality Waller is the good guy, only in the eyes of the bad guys is she bad, its about which perspective you are watching from. Did you want the movie to end with an assassin killing a government official???
3. What on earth does the budget have anything to do with it? What do you care? Did the money come out of your pocket? Learn to watch films on their own merits. Reproduce assault on arkham??? Can you imagine the shit they would have caught for that? That's absurd! The media would have killed them. Plus what's the fun in watching a movie you already know the result of... never mind the fact that that is a batman movie rather than a suicide squad movie.

@vinaldo7 and i still know nothing about him or Katana for that matter (other then those things they want to pass off as exposition) because they were almost non-existent in this movie
if the government official is placing bombs into peoples heads to do her biding then yes, yes i do want the movie to end with an assassin killing her, or at least the last movie in the trilogy.
if you really believe that a low budget 10+ episode series with very limited time to write a coherent story should have same quality storytelling as a full budget 120 min blockbuster which should have about 3-4 months to work out the story details then i really dont know what to say to you.
you do realize i stated a hypothetical example when i said live action Assault on Arkam
and Assault on Arkam being a Batman movie? says who? the title? thats like calling this movie Joker: Suicide Squad
and as for the argument that this movie had great first night audience scores on CinemaScore well so do these movies:
Catwoman CinemaScore B
INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE CinemaScore B
Ironman 2 CinemaScore A
Green Lantern CinemaScore B
all Transformers movies CinemaScore B+ or higher
all Star Wars prequels CinemaScore A-
so yea, anything thats an established franchise or has a fanbase is going to have a high score on CinemaScore
