The main problem with this movie is that it is way too predictable.
From the young girl being her own -younger, unabashed, more creative- self to the parallels between their movie and her own sanity. Elements that are presented beautifully through the cinematography and the animation and which are quite interesting were it not for the fact it in the end all seems to be paint by numbers. Saying that it might have been the purpose of the director and writers of this film since it IS something most creative people will go through at one point or the other. Based on the writing it does seem to be the case but even there it's way too intentional and predictable - the mom calling her Poppet then talking about her being a puppet caught in her own strings VS her being controlled by something/someone besides herself and being too creatively stunted to make a film on her own (unlike her sister who is blonde and - though not in my book- prettier who is making her version of the animation with a blonde happy girl).
You see... it's a little bit too much on the mark which can make it a bit too boring. It's weird in a way, it was both boring and compelling at the same time and due to this I cannot agree with the 57% above. I think 75% is much more fair seeing the work that has gone in this film and the debt of the script.

I just wish the puddle that this movie is was a little bit more murky... which is also ironic seeing how muddy the visual style of this film is.
