Solace

Hopkins sleepwalks through an interesting premise, with a weak script. It's unfortunate to see such a great cast wasted. It's not terrible, but I can think of better ways to waste your time...

It's a good movie although one might consider it a little banal to one's taste. After leading you in one direction (the apparent search of self, as a psychic seems to look for someone with his own motives behind him ... hence making a tentative point that we're about to see a reflection of a killer/policeman flip of coin) the movie changes lanes and rapidly develops as a two-part detective story where two identically potent psychics are unfolding possible futures in which they hunt each other. Which falls a bit short, or wierd to say the least. All in all, it's a movie about losing faith and regaining it, as Hopkins performs rather well in a clash with his self. Has he made his match ? Is he going to become that part of him which he denied others but not his own kid ? Maybe I've said too much, or maybe it's for you to be psychic yourself and watch this movie. If you've nothing better to do on a friday evening, you'll find it a satisfying experience.
