In his attempt to film dreams, Abel Ferrara shows a nightmare. Although the images of Willem Dafoe in a remote and frozen place visited by characters he doesn't understand, are mysterious, the hallucinatory journey becomes confusing. Based on the active imagination that Carl Jung showed in "The red book," this representation of the dream world feels scattered and somehow more ordinary than it would have us believe.

Amazing visuals, great acting, bit slow story, but it is a fantastic art movie. I recommend this for everybody.

I’m sure some people will call this a masterpiece. But while this meditation on death and dreams is occasionally inspired, it does become rather monotonous, partly because of the confusing narrative and bleak visuals.

I know Abel Ferrara has his fans, and truthfully I'm not overly familiar with his work as this is my first film of his I've seen, but this film is completely symbolic and outside of a few beautiful landscape shots, I found this pretty dull, though thankfully it's only 85-minutes long, however there More
