Not nearly as funny as Shrek 2 but it had a number of moments that made me laugh. Puss Pinnochio and Gingerbread Boy continue to crack me up. If I were in control of this franchise I'd stop now though.

Shrek the Third feels like it’s running on fumes. While it still has some funny moments and the animation is solid, the story just isn’t as engaging or fresh as the first two. The new characters don’t quite land, and some of the humor feels forced. It’s not terrible, but it’s definitely the weakest of the trilogy. Still, if you’re a fan of the series, it’s worth watching for closure, even if it doesn’t bring much new to the table.

Appallingly bad, _Shrek the Third_ is a trite and clichéd mess that wrecks the series. Rather than delivering its usual witty satire, the story plays out like a cheesy sitcom; with Shrek fretting about his ability to be a father while he tries to find a new heir to assume the throne of Far Far Away so that he can avoid the responsibility. The characters too have fallen into stereotypes and no longer have any charm to them; except for Donkey and Puss in Boots, who continue to be a fun comedy duo. And the animation is especially lackluster (easily the worst of all the films); looking especially clay-like with ridged movement. Poorly made and unoriginal, _Shrek the Third_ is a truly disappointing sequel to a once great series.

I'm probably repeating my earlier reviews but even though it's the weakest of the Shrek movies, it's still quite a lot of fun. And since I paid less attention to this one when growing up, there are a lot of scenes that feel new, wheras I know the other ones by heart. Also heartwarming to see Shreku as a father.

The King decided that he didn't much fancy this third outing, so conveniently died and left the kingdom to his daughter "Fiona" and her husband "Shrek".
