Memorable for its beautiful, chaotic cinematography that grabs you from the intro with its body-mounted camera and shaky handheld work. Wonderful premise that mostly holds interest throughout, although I felt like the end was lacking a bit. Rock Hudson's usual emptiness works well here, until we need him to communicate the interior voice of the old Arthur. Still liked it quite a bit, though.

The premise explores the desperate search for identity and renewal in the midst of superficialities and frustrations, leading to extreme attitudes and disturbing situations, where desires and dreams coexist with the feeling of being lost and constant dissatisfaction. Although some scenes go on longer than necessary, the ending is impactful and daring. The cinematography stands out with unusual angles that create an uncomfortable and surreal atmosphere. The performances are excellent, with emphasis on Rock Hudson, who delivers a memorable performance. It's an innovative film that challenges narrative and visual conventions, while provoking reflections on human nature.

What a strange, strange picture. Some really great ideas in it, though. Demands a rewatch. Hudson was amazing, specially the disturbing last scene. I only knew him from his light comedies.
