Not a sequel, not a reboot, but a wonderful tribute to the franchise that we all fell in love with so many years ago.

Some of its meta qualities are good.
I think this does the whole requel, cynical reboot thing a little better than _The Matrix Resurrections_, mostly because it doesn’t attempt to trigger the nostalgia button at every turn.
But the new characters are boring, the acting and dialogue are really bad, it’s extremely predictable (you know 10 seconds ahead of time where and when Ghostface is going to appear, every single time. And you can pretty much guess who Ghostface is after everyone’s introduction scene), and the filmmaking is too basic and uninspired.

4/10

My least favorite of the franchise. It had some good kills and funny bits, but not enough of the cast died and the reveal and motive were beyond lackluster. I cannot believe they killed Dewey. For doing that, I felt the killer should have been Sidney herself. Meh.

It was fun to watch, great kills! when Sidney said:
I'm Sidney fucking Prescott, of course I have a gun!
I almost get up from the sofa and yell:
HELL YEAH! YOU ARE! (ok it's a bit to exaggerated, but she's my ultimate final girl)
BUT my nostalgia gave a boost for my rating... the movie was
"too meta"
for me at a point that it remembered me
of Matrix 4 attempt to look cool criticizing sequels.
Now... there is ONE THING that it's impossible to me to believe:
that little teenage girl, who is one of the killers, can tackle adults and have the strength to almost lift Dewey off the ground with a knife?!?! Oh... sorry, I don't buy it
.

features some real nasty kills.
maybe three laughs
a lot of real bad dialogue.
a bunch of forgetful characters, I couldn't care less about.
pretty much a predictable ending

the 'main star' has less acting abilities than a mouldy potato! I spent the whole movie hoping she'd get killed next.

I couldn’t agree more with this review and I was super disappointed to see that Scream 6 coming 2023 has a lot of the same actors and people working on it.

A bloody fun time! Making a decent reboot/sequel to one of the best horror franchise is a difficult task and I had my doubts but I can happily say that we got another great Scream film. It's so unapologetically self-aware and funny with some excellent commentary on modern Hollywood and fandom toxicity, everything flows extremely well, the kills are more brutal, and I enjoyed much of the the new cast and their chemistry as well as the legacy ones. It clearly met the expectations and overall a great addition to the franchise. Go see it in theaters!

@hmilgraum If she was going to die. Should have been part 4. Acting like people were dying just so she could solve the case lol. She acted so needy and acting like Dewey was doing something wrong by not handing a badge or something.
She wasn’t as unbearable here. Dewey should have survived and got a spin-off series on Paramount + lol.

@hmilgraum I also had a feeling originals would die to introduce a PC cast as the new stars. I wasn’t exactly wrong. Two survivors are black, two Spanish and one is a lesbian.
It’s like that is no surprise going by how every movie and tv show is today. I prefer Dewey surviving over that.

This felt like a poor mimeograph of the original. I can appreciate what they were trying to do, I just don't think they pulled it off.

How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!

2 hours for 2 minutes of fun near the ending which quickly turned to cringe
typical modern reboot/sequel
Sad to note that a small girl overpowered some of the biggest men in the movie
absolute PC nonsense
Note also that a reasonably big male ex-cop was killed but small women survive
ends with 5 women alive and all men dead
@trickydickie
>
Sad to note that a small girl overpowered some of the biggest men in the movie
Lmao It was even worse when you realize
that it's painfully obvious that the stunt actor in the ghostface suit is a grown man, about equal height with David Arquette, but the killer that took out Arquette's character turns out to be petite standing at 5 feet 4 inches.
Ok, first the good, this has some of the best kills in the franchise and you can really feel that Radio Silence are having fun with being mean. The film also comes to life when we are spending time with the original characters, worth it for these things alone.

The problems come into play (like most legacy sequels) when we get to the new characters who are mostly bores (outside of Jenny Ortega). The writing doesn’t really work that well either, yes, this is a Scream movie so of course meta discussion is to be expected but everything else is meta these days so your shit better be sharp and have a bit more to say about the genre, this and the killer motivations are very on the nose. Although it should really hit with the film Twitter critic crowd.

Some fun kills but the killer was extremely obvious
They literally looked like they knew each other from that very first hospital scene they were in....i was sus from the jump
and the ending was hilarious but not in a good way.

@sintriangle It also wasn’t hard to predict who would survive. Since this was a politically correct Scream.
Not that there is anything wrong with that but with some of the casting. I had a feeling they would survive.
To be different from old school slasher movies.
Anyway I knew one was the killer but not the other. Since one seemed like Ghostface was never trying to kill them.

This was an enjoyable sequel with some predictable moments. With some brutal kills and I did hold on to my seat and jump once I admit. Even though some critic reviews said the movie wasn’t scary at all.
When the trailers dropped everyone said they were brilliantly misleading about who would die. Despite showing many attacks in the trailer. They unfortunately made one death way too obvious.
Early on in the movie I was able to predict who was a killer though and I was right. Which is some-what disappointing and I did leave wishing there was more surprises.
I can’t say I still didn’t leave thinking I just watched one of the better Scream sequels. Part 4 was held back by some pretty goofy moments. Like, silly kill scenes and Anthony Anderson over-acting during his death scene. There’s nothing goofy about the brutal kills in the movie. Which is a plus.
It is also a plus that the casting of the new characters was pretty good. Definitely better than some of the casting of new blood in Scream 3. Melissa Barrera (In the Heights) and Jenna Ortega (Stuck in the Middle, You) are especially good as sisters.

If they don't kill off Courtney Cox so I never have to see her in another Scream sequel, I'm gonna be pissed. LOL Scream is the only thing keeping Cox's and Campbell's careers alive... Lets get rid of Campbell too please. David can stay!

Overall I really enjoyed this, especially cuz Scream is my fave horror franchise and there was just SO MUCH LOVE for the films in this one!! The OG trio were perfect as always, I loved a lot of the new chars but mostly Mindy, Richie and Tara (Mindy is a perfect Randy 2.0, forever in our hearts Randy!), but the 'twists' were all kinda predictable and the killer reveal let me down... But tbh the journey was great and the cast were excellent, especially a certain surprise guest who had me physically SHOOK. Also Kirby!!!!!! Having that confirmation as a little easter egg was one of my favourite things!!
