The classic teenage slasher. I will never get tired of this movie.

What's your favorite scary movie ? Scream...duh. The sequels didn't really take themselves seriously enough. Part 4 especially.

Terribly overrated. It's self-conscious about the "rules" of slasher films, but it has nothing to say about them.

I don't even know what to say. I don't know if watching _Scary Movie_ ruined this for me or what happened but I couldn't figure out whether this was actually supposed to be "scary" (Why was it listed on _The 20 Best Horror Movies Ever Made, According to Redditt_ in the first place?!!) or funny, or a spoof - which leads me to wonder if _Scary Movie_ was a spoof of a spoof movie? - or what was going on here. In any case, this is the first and absolutely LAST time I'll ever watch this. It was not scary; it wasn't even funny (that award far and away goes to _Scary Movie_ ). It was just ridiculous; utterly stupid and quite possibly the worst waste of an hour and fifty minutes of my life. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. For any reason. I still don't understand what it was I just finished watching, but it was terrible.

Prior to watching this film, I had some catching up to do on the slasher genre, having never seen any of the classics. I stuck to only the originals and watched _Halloween (1978)_, _Friday the 13th (1980)_, and _Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)_. While those three didn't exactly win me over on the g More

**This is part of my 2022 HORROR Fridays**

I first saw Scream in theatres back in 1996. The usual affair for horror movies at the time was that I usually ended up liking them, and whatever girl I brought usually hated them. With Scream it was different. I fell totally in love with it, and even my More

**_Scream delivered a breath of fresh air into the slasher franchise and holds up rather well nearly 30 years later._**

The plot of this film follows a cookie-cutter structure that models nearly all of the great slasher franchises of the late 1970s and early 1980s, but that is entirely the point. More

**Scream was the first of its kind that redefined horror with new rules, a meta plot, and rebellious unexpected twists.**

Scream followed all the rules and simultaneously broke them in a brilliant self-aware genre reinvention that leveraged every horror movie trope to set up and subvert every exp More
