Scoop is a comedy/mystery film that tells us the story of an American ambitious young jornalist student, played by Scarlett Johansson, who is in the search for her first big story while on holiday in London. She goes with a friend to see the magic show of Sidney Waterman, played by Woody Allen. She is invited to go on stage to participate in a trick where she is supposed to go inside of a box and disappear. In there she gets a message from the ghost of a jornalist, played by Ian McShane, who gives her a tip about the story of a serial killer. That tip leads her to a rich aristocrat, played by Hugh Jackman, by whom she falls in love with. The true mess is coming on the way, with a series of lies she tries to find the truth about the murders with the help of the magician pretending to be her father.

With a story that is supposed to be mysterious, I couldn't feel the mystery in the atmosphere. It's also very predictable, from a very earlier point of the film I already knew how it was going to end. I also had some troubles with the chemistry between Johansson and Jackman felt wrong and very awkward at times.

The best thing of the film is some great dialogue and Woody Allen's performance. Some of Sidney's lines are absolutely great, and he will definitely make you laugh.

Scoop has its moments but overall is not consistent and that makes it weak. In my opinion one of Woody's weakest films.
