The Wayans Brothers are back and spoofing a whole new crop of films in Scary Movie 2. This time the main story follows The Haunting, but mixes it with parodies of Hannibal, The Exorcist, Charlie’s Angels, Mission: Impossible 2, and even Titanic. Anna Faris, Regina Hall, and Shawn and Marion Wayans return, and are joined by Tim Curry, David Cross, and Chris Elliott. The parodies aren’t as clever or as well done this time, and the comedy is cruder. There are plenty of laughs in Scary Movie 2, but it’s reaching for material and doesn’t quite come together as a cohesive film.
Not funny as much as first movie. On the other hand, I learned that this movie references 28 films. Bwoah! This is too much!
Some laughs but the movie is mostly bad.
The intro is the only good part. Must watch intro then stop.
This was so hard to follow but some of it was funny
The second installment of the Scary Movie Franchise is not that funny as the first one, although we can find some really good moments here. For a 1h 22m movie is still pretty enjoyable... But sometimes it feels like nothing much is happening. Now I'm ready for SM3!
'gt; "My germs!" There was a time I thought this was funnier than the first one, but on rewatch I think the first one is still the best one. That being said, there are many moments that still make me laugh out loud and I think it's because I am old enough to get the jokes that were current at the time this came out (basketball commercial skit anyone??).
While this movie is pretty bad and doesn’t have the same feel as the first film it’s still has got a load of funny moments and still entertaining to watch even though it’s completely stupid 😅 The parrot is definitely the highlight of the film .
Another spoof movie about horror classics. The steam runs out more than a bit. For fans only.
This was more gruesome than anything. Didn't really like it as much and wasn't as funny, just sickening. Still love that they made a sequel. All the parodys in the world. Bring parody movies back.
Can’t believe
she took the parrot with her
, best character in this movie :joy:
I thought comedies were supposed to be funny?
Why am I watching this again… I remember it as one of the grossest movies ever released when I was still a kid; everyone at school was obsessed with it. I am alright with gross-out comedies, but this was just too dull and generally unpleasant to watch. Shorty and the caretaker are some of the most obnoxious characters I’ve ever seen in a comedy. The funniest joke is that the movie was shot like shit and edited even worse. I would lie if I said that it didn’t make me laugh at all, though.
This movie triggers me still to this day just thinking about certain scenes. I don't know why my repressed memory tried to say this was the best of the two I have watched.... I had to take enough breaks in the movie to stop myself from puking. I had a very visceral reaction to this movie. Other than the parts I couldn't handle I had fun. This may not be my type of movie but that doesn't mean its terrible. On a positive note: The cast and crew did a fantastic job. Loved the cast.
8.5/10 Still pulling out the goods and still had me laughing from start to finish. I forgot how much I'd watched this one back in the day way more than I ever did number one. I will say though number one has aged so much better than 2 has which is surprising to me but it's true. It just felt like number 2 wasn't as inappropriate enough for me like number one is, I even noticed that number 2 only had 1 set of warnings at the beginning where one had 2 sets of warnings about this may offend some viewers bull-crap, so it's not just my feeling that number 2 was lighter and decided to go for gross over that's really naughty and inappropriate. That's fine it was still a good time but this is what makes one still Awesome and hilarious 22yrs later and much needed in this boring snowflake sjw, woke, pc bull-crap society we have to endure today.
The only good reason to watch this movie: Kathleen Robertson. She'#39;s hot as hell here! Everything about this movie is garbage. No laugh at all... the worst of the series for sure.
I'#39;m not one for raunchy comedy, but this was an enjoyable watch with friends. Unsure as to what I would have thought had I watched it alone.
Better than the first one but worst in some things... Is weird.

Scary Movie 2 (2001) is a movie in my DVD collection that I recently rewatched on HBOMAX. The storyline follows a teacher who wants to run "experiments" in an old haunted house with his students. Little do they know the house is really haunted by both ghosts from its past and the current caretaker. Will the teacher and students survive? This movie is directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans (I'm Gonna Git You Sucka) and stars Anna Faris (The House Bunny), Marlon Wayans (Requiem for a Dream), Veronica Cartwright (Alien), James Woods (Vampires), Tim Curry (IT), Regina Hall (The Best Man) and Shawn Wayans (White Chicks). It's always tough for me to decide which one was better, this Scary Movie or the original. The exorcist opening with James Woods was outstanding. The entire cast is impressive. It's hard not to love Tim Curry and Tori Spelling was a fun addition as well. There's so many classic scenes in this - the "tucked in" question, the dinner sequence, the handicapped jokes, the clown under the bed, the "I can do it myself" skit, there's just too many to name. Overall, this is one of the greatest horror parodies ever created. I would score this a 9/10 and strongly recommend it.
