Overview

A charming if not extraordinary Japanese comedy. Generally well-acted, with a unique pacing, and elevated some by its pathos. There'#39;s something of Coetzee'#39;s Michael K in Nomi'#39;s striving, and it'#39;s definitely endearing. You also can'#39;t help but feel that the film is meant at least partially as a metaphor for the Japanese comedy industry, and one wonders whether Matsumoto had been feeling unappreciated or exhausted...
