The film was quite all right, though I found the depiction of prostitution a bit too troubling, it seemed to me that a little too much was shown for the genre of Christian film. The main character Angel had a really hard life and I felt sorry for her, but at the same time it was kind of silly of her to escape Michael numerous times in spite of his love for her.

I don't quite get the marriage thing since when Michael brings her to his home, he tells her he's married her the next day she wakes, and I don't know how it was done, since consent of both parties is needed for the marriage to be valid, and Angel was unconscious when he rescued her. Michael claims there are married though there is no further ceremony shown. Maybe this is explained in the novel the film is based on, but I missed this element.

I found the scene in which Michael washes Angel's feet quite moving, just like the one at the end when Paul asks her for forgiveness. The film ends with double happy ending as Angels starts a school for girls rescued from prostitution and finally comes back to Michael. She can also apparently have children in spite of her doubts in the matter. So it is all-round happy ending, and her going back to her real name Sarah symbolises the new start in her life.

I wonder how she got the money to start the school but it looks like the African-American man helped her? Was he the slave whom Michael freed?
