Overview

Ángela Vidal, the young television reporter who entered the building with the firemen, manages to make it out alive. But what the soldiers don't know is that she carries the seed of the strange infection. She is to be taken to a provisional quarantine facility, a high-security installation where she will have to stay in isolation for several days. An old oil tanker, miles off shore and surrounded by water on all sides, has been especially equipped for the quarantine.

I only watched this one to complete the REC series. It should have ended at REC 2 because everything that followed couldn't live up to it. The first two films are great because they effectively use darkness and limited space, making them intense and scary to watch. By the fourth film, it simply becomes another generic zombie movie.

3rd BEST ONE WITH 1 AND 2 BEING THE BEST OUT OF THEM ALL. 3 WELL POOR AND RUBBISH. 4 WAS GOOD BUT THEY REALLY TRIED WAY WAY TO HARD WITH THIS SERIES TO BUILD A STORY THAT DIDN'#39;T NEED BUILDING. THEY FORGOT TO BRING US MORE ZOMBIES ALONG THE WAY AND THAT'#39;S THE BIGGEST PROBLEM I HAVE. 1/2 ARE AWESOME MOVIE'#39;S AND PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE STAYED AT THAT. BUT IF NOT 3 SHOULD BE SCRAPPED ALTOGETHER AND IF THEY WANTED 4 MOVIE'#39;S THEN HAVE ALL 4 BLENDING IN TOGETHER WITH THE SAME CHARACTERS THROUGHOUT JUST LIKE RESIDENT EVIL DID AND VERY SUCCESSFULLY I MIGHT ADD, AND UPGRADING THE ZOMBIE THREAT EACH TIME ASWEL AS THE STORY, THAT WELL WHERE REC WENT TERRIBLY WRONG AND FAILED. THANK GOD THEY'#39;VE STOPPED NOW AND LEFT THIS SINKING/SUNKED FRANCHISE ALONE. SHAME COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH MORE.

I loved it. I love all the movies in the Rec saga, without exceptions. The endings are what I like the most.

After seeing all four in this series, I think this might be the second best where the first [REC] is obviously the winner. Part two was annoying me with too much screaming and part three was just... well, an ok film on it’s own. I do think all sequels are worth a watch once but the first one still stands out (also because of the terrific finale..!) If you really liked part 1, this is worth your time, but don’t expect anything exceptional.

Occasionally inventive horror in the Rec series of zombie movies but not at all scary. More Aliens than Alien then, but worth watching all the same, if you prefer action over tension.

Si salva!! Avevo paura che fosse come la 3.. pero no.... si risolleva per terminare decentemente. Da vedere voto 8

Better than the previous but nothing even close to the first two. Feels more like an action movie and *Resident Evil*. I liked the change of scenery and the CGI monkey absolutely stole the show! Overall the [REC] franchise is pretty average and honestly I don't think I could of taken a fifth film. I'd say just stick to the first two. Favorite to least favorite: 1. [REC] 2. [REC]² 3. [REC]⁴ Apocalypse 4. [REC]³ Genesis

> When the source followed straight to the isolated lab. It looks like been ages. I know the movies (the previous three), but can't remember the scenes. A quick recap would have been helpful, but I did not do that and went ahead with this. That's the reason I hate to follow television series on the broadcast which drag one season for over 6 months. This was the fourth film in the [Rec] film series and third in the story continuation after first two. The third installment was set in the parallel timeline to that before one, but off the track narration. In this, an old woman character was brought on-board to make sure the third film was not an offbeat from the series. Except the opening few minutes, the rest of the story takes place on a moving ship. Kind of similar to 'Sector 7', though both the flicks are entirely different. The ship is used as a laboratory to develop a vaccine for the deadly disease which turns humans into the flesh eating zombies. It is protected by the armed paramilitary force. Somehow the virus breaks loose, the infection spreads out quickly through the various platforms like lab monkeys and foods. How the survivours fight to remain alive in the nowhere of the ocean is the remaining narrative. If there is a way, how they make it out that comes with the intensified gore battle between the undead and the living. I never expected another film in the series, I thought it was a trilogy, but after seeing this I felt the idea was not that bad after all. Just like the 'Jurassic Park' movies, the fourth movie puts the franchise back on the track after the third was derailed. The first film was so good and a bit scary too, followed by another decent movie. Like I mentioned the third flick was different, but a sustainable one to the theme and title. > "I don not know what was going on, > but luckily I was not there." This story starts off with a slow, until the third act where the pace picks up rapidly. Not scary, but towards the final sequences, it was very fast and edgy. The way it concluded, the outro scene was a hint for another film in the franchise. But in my opinion, it should have ended with three films or with this one. Hoping for a better one if there is going to be another [Rec], because my rating in numeral declining by one point following the each sequel. I think the suspense should have maintained well. There were some tiny twists and turns on the weak movie plot, but I anticipated the final twist and it did not deliver with that effectively. I know the theme was built on the situation, not depended on prolonged story. Because the action speaks more than any kind of development to give a clean vision on happening. After all, most of the horror movies follow the same sutra, but sometimes the horror-dramas exclude it and this is not one of that. Its a collective performance, individually, not noticeable. Because it does not follow any particular character. Though the character Angela, the television reporter was the centre of the attraction as it marks her comeback who was main in the first two films. The filmmaking was compromised, I mean it was not 'found footage' style movie as should have been. Because where this story set in does not demand such kind of cinematographical portrayal. Also avoids the dark atmosphere that used to scare us, especially the night vision screenplay was critical in the earlier two films to creep out the viewers. The title for this installment was 'Apocalypse', but that does not make any sense what they show in the exit scene. Should have called it 'Zombie Ship' like 'Ghost Ship'. I feel it is worth a watch, only to keep updated the [Rec] film series, because if they make a phenomenal 5th movie, we don't have to go back to 4th for continuation. 6/10

>"It's party time!" Director, Jaume Balagueró, managed to ditch the "found footage" style and transitioned us to the traditional style of filming. It's actually pretty cool to see how that progressed from the first _REC_ film. The decision to set this story in a ship during a storm is as if they borrowed the idea from the 2012 video game, _Resident Evil: Revelations_. That was my initial thought upon seeing the trailer reveal some time ago. My favorite new character here is Nic who is pretty much the stereotypical chubby hacker guy on deck who happens to be a fan of the lovely Angela. He's even got his own stash of chocolate bars and a Rubik's Cube at his desk. Angela is finally back and kicking major butt in this one, being the strong female character she is. I felt bad for the old lady who kept asking about her daughter-in-law's wedding which I think was simply added there to connect this and the previous film, _REC 3 Genesis_ (2012), which outbreak took place at a wedding. I also felt bad for the Phillipino guy who happened to be the cook on the ship, as well as the only Asian guy in the series so far. We do get to see more of that parasite worm that we saw in the original _REC_ film, and a little more insight on its journey to where it is now, but it leaves to question about certain aspects (lore) seen in the second film that did not seem to carry over (invisibililty). There are parts, mainly the threat, where I'm reminded of _Alien_ (1979) and the other "zombie" film, _28 Days Later_ (2002), where the virus stems from ravaging lab monkeys. Every time there's a ship escape on the ocean, I always think of that ending to _Titanic_ (1995), so of course we get a bit of that vibe here towards the end. Overall, I thought it was a nice conclusion to the series (or is it?).
