Zoo veterinarian Lizzy (Sophie van Winden) joins the city-wide hunt for a lion that is terrorizing the city of Amsterdam.

I hated this movie when I first watched it. That was largely due to watching the English dubbed version and my god the dubbing is terrible. I viewed it a second time in Dutch and while the acting in the regular Dutch version is not great, it is tolerable. I didn't expect this movie to be as gory as it was. Just seeing the Lion ripping through the people of Amsterdam was quite thrilling at times.

The atmosphere I do admit was pretty incredible and the locations they used mixed with great camera work made this better than it should have been. The writing is not its strong point and did create a lot of fake characters.

The Lion was actually pretty scary looking and would give anyone the chills and the CGI was done as well as they could have. The pacing was also well done I thought, it didn't really ever get too slow, and I am glad there was not any sub plot that dragged us away from the lion man-hunt.

My only real big gripe with the film was the acting was not great and that didn't help with how the characters were developed. None of them really stood out and it just didn't make me feel worried for any of them throughout.

Prey had some cool aspects but failed to really deliver anything more than a few cheap thrills. 4/10.
