Andie is an outcast, hanging out either with her older boss, who owns the record store where she works, or her quirky high school classmate Duckie, who has a crush on her. When one of the rich and popular kids at school, Blane, asks Andie out, it seems too good to be true. As Andie starts falling for Blane, she begins to realize that dating someone from a different social sphere is not easy.

High school. Check. Love story. Check. Heartbreak. Check. Prom. Check. Retro soundtrack. Check. Brightly-coloured outfits. Check. Average 80's high school movie. Check.

Harry Dean Stanton is the MVP of this movie. Jon Cryer's overacting annoyed me. This movie doesn't hold up very well, it's just forgetful.

A good teen comedy drama with a bit more depth than the usual comedies of the kind. Good entertainment.

Dispite seeing other Molly Ringwald and John Hughes films as well as being a child of the 80s I had never seen this one. Definitely not the strongest in their catalogs but not bad. A love story of people from different world, two young people at that. Those types of films may be a dime a dozen now but they weren’t very common back then.

One last collaboration for John Hughes and Molly Ringwald, whose creative partnership dissolved after this film. Somewhat softer and more self-serious than the preceding teen epics Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club, it tackles social cliques and classism from various perspectives.

You're ashamed to go out with me.

Andie Walsh (Molly Ringwald) is different to most kids at school. Being solely raised by her unemployed father, Jack (Harry Dean Stanton), and dressing in hand made clothes, she's very much from the wrong side of the tracks. It's tough in school as Andie and her More

Enjoyable enough teen rom-com from writer John Hughes, though, and this only after my first viewing, not a favorite of mine of his. Still, for the most part I liked the core cast and thought it had its moments. However, this is near the bottom of John Hughes' brilliant career in the 1980s. **3.5/5**

The opening bars of the Psychedelic Furs' song are probably all that really lingers in the memory from this teenage romance; that and the cracking rendition of "Try a Little Tenderness" by the star of the film Jon Cryer's lovelorn "Duckie". The thrust of the plot revolves around the eccentric outsid More
