When Myriam, the mother of two young children, decides, despite the reluctance of her husband to resume her activity in a law firm, the couple is looking for a nanny. After a severe casting, they hire Louise, who quickly conquers the affection of children and gradually occupies a central place in the home. Gradually the trap of mutual dependence will close, until the tragedy.

You know how when you're taking a shower and someone flushes the toilet and the water all of a sudden goes from warm to burning cold? That's what _Chanson Douce_ / _Perfect Nanny_ is like. The first two acts are a carefully structured psychological drama in which French actress Karin Viard delivers a strong performance as a new nanny for a mother (the wonderful Leïla Bekhti) who's decided to return to work after having two children in rapid succession. Then the film veers so sharply from slow burn thriller into high gear horror that you get whiplash. The change of tone comes a little too quickly for my taste, but the lead performances and the final five minutes are enough to push _Chanson Douce_ into the realm of recommend.
