I would normally skip straight past a political thriller, but with the likes of Bill Nighy, Ralph Fiennes and Michael Gambon was too good to resist. Ralph Fiennes is great but plays a very fierce looking prime minister, and he did scare me quite a bit I have to say. Michael Gambon was witty as usual and had me in giggles and Rachel Weisz was a handy assistant for Bill.

A slow burn British Secret Service spy mystery. Well acted.
It won't be for everyone, but I enjoyed it. :thumbsup_tone1:

This is a middle-of-the-road spy film that is a little slow but due to the stacked cast it kept my interest until the end. Rachel Weisz always kills it, but Bill Nighy's performance felt even better. This won't be for everyone though.

Boring. Slooooow.
Not much more to say about it than that.
The movie isn't that clever, it's endless politics, it's slow. Characters are hardly interesting.
Not even sure why i gave it a 6 even. Perhaps a 5 would be more appropriate.

This slow-burning dramatic "thriller" was enjoyable from beginning to end. I use the term loosely as the film really didn't give you too much at the beginning and then slowly began to unfold the story. The story/drama almost felt secondary to the character study that the movie became. The movie may have lost a bit of steam once some of the mystery was resolved but I still enjoyed it. In a sense the pacing reminded me a bit little bit of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Bill Nighy is always amazing.

This is a fantastic movie. I've seen it at least three times now and each time it rises to the mark. I've only recently discovered it was the first of a trilogy of spy thrillers which I will be watching at pace (#2 TURKS & CAICOS and #3 SALTING THE BATTLEFIELD). The cast of this movie is stellar, really the best of a crossrange of ages. Highlighting just a few would be difficult to chose. The story is well crafted and the performances are perfect. The relationships are totally engaging giving the movie a very intimate feel. Although this movie was released in 2011 it is still very reflective of world politics, today. Just a well rounded production on so many levels. I give this film a 9 (superb) out of 10. [Spy Drama]

Intelligent thriller, with its own kind of suspense. It has several great moments, but while I enjoy the intrusion of "a spy's world" by the one he shares with Nancy, ultimately this is also where the movie fails to be great(er).

This is the first of a trilogy of MI5 "spy thrillers" (the second one - TURKS & CAICOS is a compete waste of time - DO NOT WATCH).

It's a very very poor story line and shallow characters that moves along slooooowly..
My wife commented that Bill Nighy must have written it, as he's irresistible to every woman he comes into contact with!!!

Look at the list of actors here.. it should be a good movie, but alas they forgot to hire a good writer/screen writer.
I'll give it a very generous 3/10
