I loved the attention to detail. Things like when the cinema audience were so amazed by film they jumped in front of the projector to see themselves or the projector saying that if he keeps showing the newsreel the audience will never go home. I think Zhang Yimou really captures a time in history when what we take for granted today was something a whole town could be mesmerised by.
