Not your typical JCVD movie. There's hardly any martial arts used in this one and even the fight scenes are very limited for a 90's Van Damme flick. The story was your typical tearjerker "bully billionaire land developer vs. poor single mother" that has been rehashed countless times. This one wasn't bad (by JCVD standards) but certainly ranks nowhere **close** to being one of his better ones. Those action guys from the 90's - like Steven Seagal, JCVD, Stallone, etc - should have stuck with what worked instead of trying to be something or some guy they weren't. Romance and drama never worked for any of them, and this movie is proof again of that. Watch this only if you're like super bored...and there's nothing else to watch. (I mean, literally, like every other media channel is out and all the streaming services have crashed and even Tubi has cleared its entire library of everything except this ONE REMAINING MOVIE and you've washed every stitch of clothes that you own, and bathed your pets, and shampoo'd your hair, and washed every dish in the house, and vaccuum'd the carpet until the vaccuum is sucking up nothing except carpet fibers, and all your wisdom teeth have been extracted and you literally can't move from where you're sitting, and this starts streaming inexplicably on your device. It's okay to watch it under those circumstances, but anything else, and you're just a sucker for punishment...)
