Great fun and doesn't feel its nearly-90-years of age. The script and performances are terrific; William Powell and Carole Lombard are brilliant fun as Godfrey and Irene but Jean Dixon as Molly the maid steals every scene she's in.

Doesn't live up to its classic reputation but still somewhat fun.

As far as screwball comedies of the 30s go, this one felt sub-par for me. It was hamstrung at times by poor direction and editing, most notably with several scenes that just felt like they dragged. A 90-minute screwball shouldn’t feel like it outstays its welcome, but this one did at times.

William Powell continues to do no wrong, in my eyes, but I feel he lacked a connection with Carole Lombard here (because/despite? having divorced her three years prior) that ultimately made the central romance angle not very compelling. When compared to Hepburn/Grant, Russell/Grant, or Stanwyck/Fonda, I just didn’t find myself as invested here.
