very well structured documentary, following Cyntoia right away from the first trial onward. what it does particularly well is showing the generational trauma and abuse that ultimately lead to the murder in question. the defence was right; Cyntoia never had a chance, because her mother georgina never had a chance because *her* mother never had a chance. I hope even if this documentary doesn't touch people emotionally, it at least makes us all think more critically of the systems in place that shut people like Cyntoia out. if she'd gotten the mental health support she needed from the beginning, her story might have not escalated to this point; she had a really good starting point with her adoptive mum so I *know* if services needed had been available to her, that mother would've done anything to get help for her child.

The movie is well done, because the crew followed Cyntoia from the get go, basically right after she was arrested, and it gives authenticity to the project. However, when it comes to the content and the angle, ...well it's not a story I find compelling or inspiring. But I am sure some will
