The first time I saw this movie, it felt all wrong. 15 years later, it still feels a lot is missing. It's still a nice flick to watch over while on the plane or catch it on late night cable, but not something I would spend money to buy.

While a bit lacking as a science-fiction movie, it serves as a fascinating hypothetical spiritual cosmic journey.

This has held up fairly well over the years. I actually enjoyed it quite a lot. I agree with others in that it isn't as fully developed as it should be and the music doesn't always fit the scene. However, it is still a pretty solid movie for Hollywood sci-fi. Doesn't quite qualify as science fiction in my book.

I first watched this movie on VHS as a kid and I think for that reason alone it‘s a classic for me. The special effects were ahead of it‘s time and hold up pretty well even more than 20 years later. The story is good but lacks here and there. Still a good movie that I like to rewatch once in a couple of years.

Some couples dance, others go to Mars.

It was the year of two Mars based movies, with the other being Red Planet, of Pitch Black and the chaotic history that produced the Supernova. Plenty of sci-fi around but sadly few decent offerings.

Well, the idea behind the movie was good. And it is very well made. The sets look genuine and the SFX for the time is good also. It wasn´t a cheap movie. But it fails to generate any suspense or thrill. It jumps through the story early on only to drag out certain scenes to an agonizing length later More

When a mission to explore the red planet goes wrong, stranding "Luke" (Don Cheadle) alone on this hostile world, his colleagues "Woody" (Tim Robbins), "Jim" (Gary Sinese), "Terri" (Connie Nielsen) and "Phil" (Jerry O'Connell) put huge pressure on their boss to let them take the spare rocket ship and More
