Attractive but forgettable fluff held together by the attraction of the styling and the two principle actors

We could say fairytale with the how obvious happyend, but let's not ruin this so well acted movie opinion. It was a pleasure to watch it.

What a beautiful movie. I love period pieces, specifically those surrounding or during the second world war and this one is especially gorgeous. The lighting, colours, the acting, it's all superb. Francis McDormand is absolutely brilliant, and while I've never really been a huge fan of Amy Adams she really does play the part of Delysia very well. I also loved the contrast between the glamour of the rich world and the air raid sirens. Those things are so terrifying, I can't even imagine hearing them for real. The small moments of world war two creeping in as the country goes to war just really brought it up a notch.
