Kid's movie or not, modern writers should really turn off autopilot on their scripts and spread their wings more.
Basically a *Madagascar* spin-off. I don't know what I was expecting but this was clearly aimed at kids, doesn't do much for me. The animation looks good, familiar themes with a fresh coat of paint, characters are the usuals, decent voice cast, a few funny moments. I get this weird feeling once i've finished it like something was missing. Very average.
Judging this as a kids movie, I thought this was pretty great. The animation is beautiful, the voice work was solid, and even cracked a few laughs.
Has some fun moments but overall unremarkable; basically everything it does was done better by some other films. Similar in narrative to The Brave Little Toaster, but while those characters had a strong and relatable incentive for going on an adventure, this bunch do it for no particular reason... a whim. The low-stakes premise and scarce character development numb the film, producing very little to care about and depriving of tension, leaving slapstick comedy and eye-candy visuals as the main hooks.
_Migration_ was a decent and okay movie. I had medium expectations as _Illumination_ released some real bangers. However _Migration_ met my expectations I think. The animation was gorgeous and breathtaking, really incredible. But the rest I think was just okay.. You have a kinda fun and interesting idea for this movie. But I think this one wasn't anything special. I don't really know how to put it in words. If you ask me _Migration_ is just a basic kids movie that is kind of forgettible but still good with, as said, great visuals. From a childs perspective I think this movie could be amazing. I would have liked to have seen more of Jamaica.
After seeing the trailers 'amp; have a good laugh, this seemed like a solid stab to watch for free on a flight. Characters were honestly underbaked 'amp; nothing revolutionary for the plot/lessons learned. 'amp; honestly, seemed like most of the jokes were in the advertisements to begin with. Expect higher of children 'amp; their intellect! Challenge them to criticially think a little...

Nice kid family movie, production should continue the history

Good job, Illumination, you're improving! Migration is arguably a step-up compared to the studio's usual output...But that says about as little as it possibly could say. Confused why people liked this one so much.
I was underwhelmed, especially as the movie has a 72% on RT. Reminds me of The Good Dinosaur - a bit bland, a few scary scenes that really hurt the filmās overall atmosphere, forgettable characters, and basically unmemorable.
Migration is a good family movie. There are a couple of scenes that are truly great, but as a whole, the film does nothing to stand out from the pile of mediocre animated films.
A good animated movie that is primarily for kids but can also be enjoyed by adults.
What a beautiful scary violent animated movie ! š Lol Man, there was so much violence at the beginning of the journey, in NYC.... the poor pigeon ! And With the parrot in that cage. I felt bad for the birds people catch or raise since birth in captivity then give them to people to be in a cage. This is not a life.... People, GET CATS ! Then this scene with ducks in mid-air with oranges, that was so lol The only human in this movie, the CHEF, all he could say was "AAAARRRRGHHHH" I will watch it again for sure. There are more things to learn in this movie. Congrats to everyone who helped bring love and life in this animation š¹š¹š¹
First movie of the year! Itās not super great, but itās inspiring enough for a better start to the year. I watched this while preparing to check out from the hotel where I stayed to celebrate the New Year. This film is memorable for me.
Pretty run of the mill kids film. Nothing special here.
Great family movie with wonderful colours and images. Themes like the fear of the unknown, family, taking chances and getting out of your comfort zone and beating the stereotypes are all over this movie! Would recommend it.
It's a super solid 7/10... All characters are likeable and have their funny moments. Defo worth a watch. :)
Migration is exactly what I thought it was going to be beautiful animation with, a great voice cast (especially from Danny DeVito and whoever plays Qwen also Awkwafina is way overused nowadays) with some humorous moments, entertaining throughout and a pretty basic generic story. One of Illumination's least memorable films but not the weakest.
So many simplifications and denials of facts that I feel sorry for the parents explaining this movie...
A safe family movie that felt incredibly generic. Some decent voice acting, but pretty average on the whole. Glad it was pretty short. 4.8

_Migration_ is a decent animated adventure with charming visuals and some sweet family moments, but it suffers from tonal imbalance and narrative fatigue. While the animation is vibrant and the natural settings are beautifully rendered, the film often overwhelms with its relentless energy. From constant yelling and frantic action to an overabundance of flight scenes and dizzying aerial acrobatics, it quickly becomes exhausting. The message of freedom and exploration is clear ā but after the tenth swooping dive, it starts to feel like overkill. Another weakness lies in the lack of a compelling antagonist. The villainous human "Chef" feels more like a noisy distraction than a real threat, and the absence of a grounded, emotionally resonant conflict leaves the story feeling a bit aimless. The family dynamics also raise some concerns. The father character, who is clearly doing his best to protect and provide for his family, is portrayed as overly cautious and out of touch ā a trope thatās becoming increasingly tiresome in modern animation. The rest of the familyās constant frustration with him feels unfair, and only shifts when he finally conforms to what they want. In the end, _Migration_ is enjoyable enough for kids, but lacks the nuance and balance that would make it truly memorable.

The animation style totally rocked! What really got me was how the characters and the background meshed together. Despite their different styles, everything just clicked, which was super cool to see. The color work is absolutely amazing. Watching it was a treat for the eyes. But honestly, I was hoping for more from the story, especially since it started off strong. I wanted something that really got into the tough stuff animals face when they move around the world, but in a fun way that kids could get into. Instead, it kind of felt like a rerun of stuff like "Ice Age: Migrations" and "Madagascar," just not as good. Itās definitely worth a watch, but donāt expect to be blown away. When I just chill and think of it strictly as a kidsā movie, without stressing over the similar stuff I've seen before, it actually turns out pretty great. Iād totally recommend it for a fun movie day with the kiddos. Sure, the jokes felt kind of same-old, but the way the characters moved cracked me up more than a few times. It's got its flaws, but all in all, itās a pretty fun watch, especially with the little ones.

"Mack" and wife "Pam" live contentedly on their pond and are preparing for winter when some migrating ducks break their journey and infect their kids "Gwen" and "Dax" with the travelling bug. "Mack" is adamant that staying home is the best strategy, but the arrival of "Uncle Dan" and his daughter's persistence soon persuade him that a trip to Jamaica wouldn't be a bad idea. Off they go and en route encounter the dangers of the big city. That's where they meet the scrawniest but meanest of pigeons "Chump" who, after a bit of tussle over a sandwich, agrees to introduce them to the only bird that might know the way to the Caribbean. Snag? Well, he's caged up in a restaurant and the terrifying master-chef keeps the key on his jacket at all times. Can they get the key, free "Delroy" the macaw, and then escape the pursuing vengeance of the tattooed, pony-tailed, man with the kitchen knives? The animation is detailed and it's quite watchable this film, but it reminded me quite a lot of "Ratatouille" (2007) meets "Chicken Run" (2000). There's plenty of colourful action and the narrative does imbue some character into the two children, particularly, but otherwise it's all just a wee bit procedural. It's at the better end of the Illumination factory production line, but it's not a film anyone will likely remember and it did rather shout sequel at me too.

#MovieReview #Migration #IlluminationMigration "Illumination Migration" is a lively and captivating film that offers an exciting and entertaining experience for children. The movie presents a world where ducks have created their own unique home, making it a fun and imaginative setting for the story. The comedy in the film strikes a perfect balance, not being overwhelming but still managing to charm viewers and make them fall in love with the characters. Meeting Dax and Gwen and following their adventures was truly enjoyable. From start to finish, the film keeps audiences laughing and engaged. The humor throughout the movie is incredibly well-done, providing numerous opportunities for laughter and enjoyment. Overall, "Illumination Migration" is a delightful movie that promises a fun time for both children and their families at the theaters.
