good plot, bad script; feels generic
Excellent film! Surprised its not more talked about. Great sequences and photography. Interesting plot but not overly twisted. I kinda wish there was a prequel! Sam Worthington does well. Ed Harris screen presence is amazing as always. Love the bit part character actors too. No 2d characters. Good strong female characters too.
7.5/10 really enjoyable movie and worth watching in every occasion!
The movie was cool. It was definitely worth a watch. It was a bit slow but it was cool. I was not particularly moved by the acting but it was a good story.
Somehow I missed this movie back in 2012... wish I'#39;d still missed it. Fully predictable. If you'#39;ve watched pretty much every movie about breaking into the impossible bank/bank vault, then you'#39;ve seen this. There are no real twists or surprises, because... you'#39;ve seen them all before. Suspend reality during the opening credits. Everyone is over acting - I don'#39;t think I'#39;ve ever seen so many big-name actors trying to out-act other actors!! As for the writing.. let'#39;s just say every character is pissing on a wall and trying to see who can get the highest. Yawn... 4.5/10
a film that fictionally reports the hard work of the police in dismantling a highly architected gang
**It’s definitely watchable. ** The plot was good but the plot twist could’ve been so much more. Ed Harris role was small but he’s so good at playing the antagonist in movies.
**The Good**: + The acting is all around good; Worthington is a believable action star but not the brightest dramatic actor; Banks gives a strong performance and Burns is amazing as usual. + The female characters have an unusual layer of charm and sass (particularly **Genesis Rodriguez**, who puts Jamie Bell on place on more than one occasion). + The plot takes some interesting twists and turns towards the end. + Intense enough to have me sitting on the edge of the chair several times. + Never boring and occasionally even funny. + The heist and its climax are the most exciting and best flowing parts. **The Bad**: - A very typical thriller with a corrupt police force, a majestic heist and the lot. - The script could have added more depth into the characters and the central narrative. - Large parts of the first half - mainly the scenes with the titular man on the ledge - quickly become repetitive and tiresome. - Not particularly original. **Verdict**: Better than one would think, but nothing too special.
Was an interesting film. I'#39;m not to sure about the ending though, I was a little confused.
A fun movie with a lot of misdirection that was pretty well-executed. Definitely TENSE in several spots. Sam Worthington as the main character Nick was pretty good with the exception of some pretty wooden dialogue when he was on the ledge. Ed Harris makes a great villain in any movie. And Genesis Rodriguez...WOW! What a beautiful woman. I had never heard of her before this movie, but I'#39;ll keep an eye for her now. Definitely worth a watch!
Man on a Ledge was surprisingly good. It was entertaining and thrilling. It kept me on the edge of my seat a little bit at the end. I went into the theater with my brain turned off and with low expectations, and it helped me enjoyed the film more than it would have if I came in with high expectations. Take the movie for what it is, mindless fun. Don't over think it while you watch it. It was a great watch.
It'#39;s a mystery how they were able to bring their tools used for the heist.
"I will exit this world as I entered: innocent." This counts as a heist movie, so of course I was intrigued when this came out. This has some great actors and a fun premise, so what could go wrong? I think the third act fell a little flat after a good build up, but is still a fun movie to watch nonetheless.
A police psychologist Lydia Mercer (Elizabeth Banks) is called for to talk down an ex-con Nick Cassidy (Sam Worthington) who is threatening to jump his death. This was a very average movie that I hoped was better. I was interested in finding out why he was on the ledge but the explanation I got was honestly a load of nonsense. Its simple premise I think should have stayed just that, instead of adding that really bad sub plot that made zero sense. I do like Elizabeth Banks, she was not amazing in this film, but she was alright. Sam Worthington was probably the better of the two leads. The constant twists were just very off putting and made me not really care what was going on anymore. The script was not great and incredibly basic. The character development for Banks character was really dull and didn't interest me. What could have been a pretty decent single location thriller became an average heist movie that left me scratching my head. 5/10.
