This was a great biopic told in a fresh, intriguing way. I can't believe something like this could happen to a legend though, a crazy doctor ruling his life. Horrible. Great movie, and I loved all the ways they showed Wilson coming up with the hits. Immediately had to revisit his catalog on Apple music.

One of the best music biopics there is. A fatal mistake most of them make is trying to condense an artist's life in 2 hours. And in chronological order. But this one has a very good script that moves between timelines smoothly.

I don't know much about the Beach Boys or Brian Wilson beyond the music but despite that Paul Dano did a wonderful job building a great character which I assume is a likeness of Brian Wilson. Interesting to see Cusack playing this type of character. Not his typical. Not sure that it was so good because Cusack never really fell to the background.

What really hit me about Love & Mercy was how it told its story. How Brian plays "God Only Knows" with the camera doing a 180, revealing that his father is behind. This "show, don't tell" way of showing how characters relate to each-other; whether it be Brian and Eugene, Brian and Melinda, Brian More
