I've watched many of Wayne's movies but this somehow eluded me until now. I didn't even know I had this in my collection.

Not that it is a must see by any means. I'd say within the context of its time it's an OK movie. The cinematography sure is great. It's old time movie making where you actually had to go to the places. I enjoy that. The story is a bit all over the place, it's about faith - I guess - and greed. What it can do to a person. About second chances. Problem is, once you throw a woman in between two men you know what you get.I don't think Wayne and Loren made a good pair, though.
It's always hard to judge a movie over 60 years after it was made but if you enjoy old time movies take it for what it is. Don't look for plot holes and logic because those things didn't matter much then.


Heck, in many movies they don't matter today.
