I can say straight up this will not be a movie for everyone, but it really clicked for me. I would also say a blind watch is preferable in movies like this, I went in knowing almost nothing and if possible I think that's the way to watch the movie if possible.

For me it was incredibly immersive once established, with incredible sound design and score. The slow build of tension, unease and dread as things unfold. I'll admit, I've always been a fan of mediums that give the viewer the same amount of knowledge of whats going on as the characters have, and this nails that.

The premise has a whole has been done many times before, including this years Knock at the Cabin, but I've not seen that or read the book it was based on. But in relation to the other similar films, this takes the top spot for me.

While the ending itself is probably the weakest part of the movie for me personally because it answers just slightly too many questions a little bit too easily, the journey to get there was still worth the time and I think the ending might still work for others.

@esseth You put it alot better than I could. The movie was confusing for me and part of me still doesn't understand it. But I'm sure I will after I watch it again.

this is the most liked review and i wish i didn't read the other ones. people need to grow up and learn how to interpret their own endings. also it is spelled all out for you on the computer at the end in addition to the gag with the daughter. don't get me started on the people who took offense to "racism against whites" lmao. the rest of the reviews on this site were appalling. thank you for putting into better words than any of those "anti woke/white fragility" people could ever articulate about this movie

@esseth "incredible sound design" as there is a constant high pitched whine for a solid 1:17 seconds in the middle of the movie for no reason. After 5 seconds the viewer understands it's an uncomfortable sound. Allowing the sound to continue serves zero purpose other than the potential of ruining hearing (I'm wearing headphones with an amp set to around 50%), or outright annoying the viewer. It almost makes me want to ditch this "time-filler" of a movie. The only redeeming thing about this movie is the good-average acting

Edit: It AGAIN happens around the 1:33:00 mark, which again it serves zero purpose. Mute the audio and let us watch the actors feel the pain of the ringing. At this point, it can easily be inferred it hurts. Yes, I've dropped the volume since the initial ringing, and it was still ear-piercing. So, if at this point the movie has done almost nothing to impress me, I CAN'T wait for the F-Tier ending that is to come (read a few comments saying it was a nothing-burger of an ending).
