A meteorite crashes into the ocean but luckily Dr. Leslie Gaskell (Jeff Morrow) and his beautiful but stereotypical girlfriend (Barbara Lawrence) are already casting a watchful eye.

While many of the special effects are woeful by today's standards, Kronos itself is a very original creation. It's a big, square, energy-absorbing machine that's basically constructed of two metal blocks and some cylinders for legs. As cheezy as it sounds, it works. Whenever the Kronos robot is on-screen, the movie really hums along. It's a very interesting monster that ranks right up there with "The Monolith Monsters" for true originality. And speaking of humming along, the movie clocks in at a tidy 78 minutes.

What's too bad, though, is the many things throughout the movie that had me yawning or rolling my eyes. I don't think I've ever seen so much stock footage in a film before. I've also never seen so many story details relayed using signs. There are signs on doors, on fences, and above switches telling you much more detail than you need to know. What's also a negative is the possessed Dr. Eliot (John Emery) is unintentionally funny.

"Kronos" is about as original as a monster movie gets but it's poorly executed and not really as much fun as it should be.
