Someone mentioned this and Bloodsport as top two films of their kind. Having now watched this, Bloodsport is by far better.

Bar scene is interesting, and the last 3 minutes of the film, with the amazing soundtrack, is fantastic. The two villains are shown to be fairly bad to the immediate characters we see, but their greater impact on the community as a large is limited to one scene, which ... is about standard for this time.

Training is enjoyable to see, but the abrupt ending leaves a lot to be desired. [spoiler]Okay, he wins, fighter is badly hurt, they're out 1 million, but ... Do they go back to America? Does the fighter come back again? Do they just shoot things up? Does the big boss come through looking for payback?[/spoiler] Just not very tidy, which again, is pretty standard for the time period.
