Just like, "Interstellar," was a story about a Father's relationship with his daughter, this was a story about a Mother's relationship with her daughter.

[sploiler] Arguably, the building of tension occurs when a new lab intern, Jae-kyung, asks Yoon Seo-hyun, paraphrasing here, "You've had so many opportunities: Why don't you talk to your Mother Jung-yi?" And, when she finally does she finds out the point of failure has always traced back to Jung-yi's bond with her daughter, Yoon Seo-hyun. Upon learning this the daughter is crushed emotionally. And, even though **we** knew all along that the sighting of the doll was what caused the Mother to choke it is the daughter's catharsis that gives voice to our own release. Things pick up from here, emotionally _and_ action-wise! [/sploiler]
