People are acting weird, dad works for NASA, mom eats raw meat and burned bacon, the teacher eats live frogs and there's aliens parked over the hill. A young boy must navigate through all that while battling Martians.

***Invaders from Mars*** is yet another 80's horror movie with killer practical effects, costumes and creature designs. The set for the spaceship is quite unique and the weirdness displayed on-screen whenever those martians show up is entertaining and fun. The first time we see them remains my favorite moment. The problem is we see them for about 2 minutes in the first hour and then we don't see them again until the third act and this movie doesn't have much going on except for the aliens.

The whole thing feels like it was written and directed by a child David's age and that's a criticism but at the same time it's the whole charm of the movie and it makes a ton of sense given the ending. The inclusion of the military for example and how they're so steriotypical is such a childish perspective. I think this movie would've been fine without them. The dialogue is awful and unfunny even when they're aiming at one-liners but the aliens are funny just by their look at least.
