Weird movie, does not appeal to everyone. I find it not that good, satire of teenage suicide with dark comedy

The movie that the late 80s needed. It twists a lot of the tropes from the more commercial teen movies that came out around the same time, with the subversion often feeling more like a product of the 90s because of how dark and edgy it gets. I'm sure Todd Solondz had this movie on his mind when writing _Welcome to the Dollhouse_, but you can also see how it inspired campy movies like _Mean Girls_ or _Bottoms_. Really enjoyed the dreamy filmmaking style, campy acting and absurd dialogue; it's a movie that's willing to take risk after risk and most of it works out really well. The deconstruction always feels clever and pointed, though sometimes it requires digging to understand what it's trying to say. Maybe some of it was an accidental stroke of genius, as its director never made anything noteworthy after this. However, that doesn't change that I had a lot of fun with this. 8/10

Definitely a lot different than other high school movies, even those in the 80’s that seemed to either focus on romance or rebellion. I feel for one you have to know what your getting into before watching heathers since it’s such a dark comedy and a unique one at you might have to be in the right mood to enjoy this one, but I did throughly and this will forever be a classic.

3.0/10. There’s an interesting line of thought that’s come up lately with the glut of remakes and reboots in recent years – instead of remaking good or even great films, films that make the most of their premises with great acting, direction, and storytelling, we should be remaking bad films w More

RELEASED IN 1989 and directed by Michael Lehmann, “Heathers” stars Winona Ryder as Veronica, a high school student in Ohio who has sold herself out to join the popular clique of three girls, all coincidently named Heather (Kim Walker, Lisanne Falk & Shannen Doherty). The more she spends time wit More

This movie is a high school satire done absolutely amazingly. It's everything current high school dramas wish they were. It's dark, funny, but does not lose any of its meaning to stupid jokes. It perfectly shows the hell that is high school (and society as a whole). Just like in high school, there a More
