I have never rooted so hard for two kids to die a violent death. Shut up shut up shut the f up.
Scrapes a 6 on creep factor.
No I'#39;m NOT going to carry you! And if I say '#34;be quiet'#34;, that'#39;s what mean.
Appropriately gruesome and made with some imagination, but by the film'#39;s resolution, the film wasn'#39;t as good as it could have been. A better film is out there.
Starts a bit slow. But once the action starts, the movie becomes interesting. Not bad for a low budget indie movie.
When I watched "He's Out There," I couldn't help but notice how dumb the Americans in the movie are. They constantly leave the door open and never lock their cars. They even leave their phones in the car, which is just stupid in this day and age. But that's not all. The characters also behave totally irrationally. A good example of this is when the child is poisoned. The mother doesn't seem to immediately realize that she should drive to the hospital or call for emergency services. Instead, she tries to solve the problem on her own, which leads to dangerous consequences. The film itself is okay, but it's hard to focus on the plot when you keep stumbling upon the strange behavior of the characters. The movie is also very predictable, so there are no big surprises. All in all, "He's Out There" is an average horror movie that unfortunately sabotages itself with the stupidity and irrational behavior of the characters. However, if you enjoy horror movies and don't mind this type of behavior, it could still be an entertaining film.
Really annoying kids made the movie even harder to watch
A perfectly passable horror movie. Nothing more. Even though it sets itself up for a sequel - I really hope they don'#39;t make one.
A pain-by-number slasher flick.
In my opinion, Laura wasn'#39;t
shocked enough when her husband fell off the roof and she found out that his eyes were cutting out. I would have expected that she cry more bitterly.
otherwise really great respect to make such hard horror film scenes with two little girls!!
Yvonne Strahovski stars in the indie horror film He’s Out There. The story follows a family that heads out to their lake house for a relaxing weekend, but they soon find themselves being stalked by a mysterious figure lurking in the shadows. Strahovski gives a fairly strong performance and the two child actors are pretty good as well (and being real life sisters helps). Also, director Quinn Lasher does an impressive job at building suspense and at creating an atmospheric tone. But there’s not much of a plot or character development; particularly in regards to the killer, whose identity and motives are left largely unexplained. However, there is a clever use of a storybook motif that gives the film a dark fairy tale like mystique. While it’s kind of a by-the-numbers home invasion film, He’s Out There is well-made and delivers some chilling scares.
a clear example of a movie that doesn'#39;t know what it'#39;s doing
OK, OK.... yea, this feels like I'#39;ve seen the story a dozen times. But, there were definite moments of suspense, and the mom and girls played their parts tremendously.
I thought for sure the predator was the '#39;friendly neighbor'#39; that was revealed early on, but glad they wrapped up why it wasn'#39;t him. The father was completely useless in this story! LoL.
Not a terrible movie - but nothing near groundbreaking either.

_**Cabin-in-the-woods flick involving a mother & two little daughters**_ A woman (Yvonne Strahovski) goes out to a vacation home in the backwoods of Virginia with her two little girls, but their retreat takes a horrifying turn. “He’s Out There” (2018) is cabin-in-the-woods horror influenced by the Friday the 13th flicks, but more mundane and modern. The technical filmmaking is impressive, such as the locations, cinematography, score/soundtrack, mysterious ambiance and Yvonne as the protagonist. The set-up is good and the climax is engaging enough but, speaking as a fan of this subgenre, the middle hour is dreadfully dull because the social dynamics are limited to the mother & two daughters, which doesn’t cut it. Yvonne is fine with what’s she’s given, but the lil’ girls are uninteresting (and unsurprisingly so). The scenario needed one or two additional characters to stir up the dynamics and engage the viewer. Either that or exchange the dull kids for a couple of teen girls, SOMETHING. The film runs 1 hour, 29 minutes, and was shot at Lost River, Quebec, which is about an hour’s drive northwest of Montreal. GRADE: C- (while my wife gives it a C)
