Name one movie where "animated character comes to the real world" has ever been a good movie.

A decent enough family movie. But it fails on many aspects... Major error was the casting. Almost everybody felt like a bad cast, especially the child. I hate the typical trope of a parent who doesn't believe their child in cases where literally everybody would also not believe the child.

“Harold and his magic pencil” is a story with a super creative premise: what would happen if what you draw became reality? Harold’s journey from the fictional world to the real one is full of moments that make you think and, at the same time, laugh at the absurd situations he faces. It has its magical moments, especially in how it explores the power of imagination and the importance of creativity, but it also takes its time to get going.

Some parts feel a little predictable or perhaps too “light” for what could have been a great epic adventure, but it makes up for it with endearing characters and moments full of wit. Of course, the central theme about how to deal with what we create, whether on paper or in real life, is well resolved.

It's a solid 7/10. It won't be the deepest story you read, but it will surely make you smile more than once and leave you thinking about how powerful imagination can be. Ideal if you are looking for something light, creative and with a touch of humor!

The purple crayon has been praised within my social circle as a "brilliant, one of a kind, family feel-good movie." An excellent testament to the value of imagination and never losing your youthful spirit. A heartfelt and genuine adventure with our quirky fun-loving 2d story book crew navigating the harshful staleness of the "real" world.
The movie teaches that life can be anything we want it to be, that magic can be seen in ways we can only imagine, and that it only takes a new creative perspective to see what we might have missed - The things we felt when we were children and the things that we should remember as adults.
Big or small, imaginary or real, a dream exists.

Jump off the bandwagon and see this for yourself, a movie that has more layers than most colourless remakes out there.

This movie was stupid and funny. Nothing cerebral going on here. Simple story with some good laughs, don’t know why everybody has such a stick up their butt about a kids movie with no political or real world influence. Wish I had a magical crayon lol

This movie would have done better at the box office if Harold had drawn the audience.

🤔 Just to clarify, he managed to draw a door to the "real world," but he couldn't create a door to the "old man's house that created and narrated Harold and the Purple Crayon"?

Is this the type on films they think kids want to watch these days? I don’t think a child could even stay interested enough to watch this till the end.

How is Zooey Deschanel usually so fun and goofy, but she was probably the most boring character ever. Her acting was so meh. It’s like she didn’t want to be there but she had signed the contact and it was too expensive to pull out.

I did a have a couple of laughs but that’s not enough to make me want to recommend this
