Yes it has been done before, yes the budget is clearly a bit lower than others, yes the usual hoops are jumped through but there are also a couple of interesting morale and shocking moments. Not always well judged but also a surprise to see them addressed in a popcorn movie like this. Easy escapist entertainment with its heart in the right place.

We've seen this film 2012 times and the day after tomorrow it's not impossible that there will be yet another geostorm in a teacup. But the first two acts of _Greenland_ are more suspense than disaster and the film is all the better for it. Director Ric Roman Waugh does a great job of building tension around how people act in the face of a world threatening event and the sense of urgency rubs off on the viewer. Sadly, though, the final act slips into the clichés one would expect from a film of this genre, but not badly enough that it erases the good work that precedes it.

I gave this an extra star based on the fact that everyone in the movie is so dumb just like the people I see outside everyday.

I guess if you seen one movie about the world ending you see them all. Predictable a lot of action not necessarily believable action but it's really good for surround sound listening to stuff explode

As the other commenters have noted, this film has been there, done that, gotten the T-shirt, and is now using same said T-shirt to Mr. Miyagi (wax on..., wax off) the car. But, much like Milla Jojovich and the T-Virus, you kinda know what to expect with a Gerard Butler movie. Either swords and sanda More

I wasn't expecting a lot from this movie, maybe some mid-level doomsday story. So my dissapointment is rather low.

This movie tries to combine a family-drama with said doomsday scenario and it actually works at first. The build up is good, you go through the different stages, like the selecti More

Cue the epic music... and exactly the same elements, acting, cinematography, and script that are in nearly every disaster movie in the last 20 years.

“Greenland” ranks well above average when it comes to disaster movies. Screenwriter Chris Sparling takes the traditional end of the world blueprint and inserts some really nice surprises and twists, making this formulaic action flick seem not as much so.
