“A very good movie for those interested in American history. It features extensive and accurate depictions of battle scenes and historical details. The film evokes a range of emotions and portrays a certain depth that is quite challenging to capture on the big screen. However, it’s a bit of a shame that F. Maxwell and the team started with this in the early ’90s and then produced ‘Gods and Generals’ ten years later, providing an alternative view of the war. It feels a bit backward to begin with the final phase of the war and then produce a different perspective on it. Regardless, in my opinion, it is a highly watchable film. I give it a 9 out of 10 and highly recommend it.”

I hate to rip off another reviewer, but I kind of like what Ebert said about this movie. Despite having been to Gettysburg and read a lot about the battle, I learned a few new things about the conflict. The movie was well-acted and Sheen does a fantastic job as General Lee. It is a shame that a few more of these men aren't household names. follow me at https://IHATEBadMovies.com or facebook IHATEBadMovies

An ambitious film. Impressive scope with civil war reenactors involved as extras (the "Making Of..." documentary is an interesting companion piece) Running time is intimidating making it an easier at home watch. The ONE complaint is on some facial 'wig' work that is just too WTF, especially as original photographs are also displayed.

I first watched this movie in a movie theater shortly after it came out. It only had a limited release, so most people saw it as a cable release movie. From the opening title crawl and showing the lead actors in their roles juxtaposed with pictures of the actual historical figures, it had me hook.

_**The Civil War's Turning Point Battle**_

"Gettysburg" (1993) has a lot going for it: an all-star cast, including Tom Berenger (Longstreat), Martin Sheen (Robert E. Lee), Jeff Daniels (Chamberlain) and Sam Elliott (Buford); great authentic Gettysburg locations; good battle scenes; a commitment t More
