It’s a little too fast paced. Garfield meets John. Suddenly Odie is there. Then Garfield and Odie are taken by outcasts of dogs and cats. For an outdoor adventure.
Chris Pratt brings everything he got to the voice of Garfield. The plot isn’t really the best for the reintroduction of Garfield to the big screen, though.
There’s not enough of Garfield at home driving John crazy. Has more of a plot of a Secret Life of Pets movie.
Though it does eventually get more Garfield like as it goes on and there is charm.

The Garfield Movie was actually pretty good, although the characterisation and underlying themes are of a similar style to most of the box office animated movies released this century (likeable but cocky 'everyday' character with parental abandonment issues is forced to become a hero when paths cross with aforementioned parent, vainglorious antagonist with brutish but amusing henchmen, circumstances along the way bringing about emotional moments that then lead to understanding/reconciliation of the lead protagonists, bad guys going good, etc).

That said, it's an enjoyable family-friendly film that does the franchise credit, despite it only loosely resembling the 'traditional' fat, lazy, lethargic Garfield as depicted in the original comic strips.

The trailers severely overhyped this movie..they only showed the good parts. Didn't laugh or smile once.

They made up some completely random storyline that doesn't even remotely relate to garfield

This isn't the lazy, home kitty Garfield.
No way in hell would Garfield spit out meatballs! not a chance.

it's a cat that looks like him, but sounds like Mario, and does stuff.

Very bland, me n the kids made one 'Ha' noise once, near the start, and just put up with the next 80mins. couldn't wait to get out.

CATFLIX is now my favorite platform. Definitely watch it. It's fun, nice and can be watched with the family.

This movie is proof that good animation is not all it takes to make a good movie.

This was an agonizing watch. The writing was terrible, and for the love of God, stop hiring Chris Pratt to do voice acting!

It's not "so bad it's good", it's not entertaining, it's not fun, and maybe most of all, it's _painfully out of touch_.
Again, the animation was good, and kudos to the animation department, but also I'm sorry your hard work was wasted on what is ultimately a pile of garbage.

From an animation fan, don't watch this.

Didn’t live up to it’s full potential. I don’t think it was bad by any means, but it also didn’t really feel much like a Garfield movie 🤔🤔

I didn't think Pratt and Jackson's voices fit well on their roles. Producers could have spent those talent fees in improving the movie.

Went to see it with The Kids they loved it..But for a reintroduction to Garfield to most Young Kids..It could have been better tho…I grew up watching Garfield & Friends, so it would of been cool if they could of added Orlson & Sheldon and the rest The Animals from that Cartoon too The Big Screen..

Didn't hate it or love it, it's just Meh and it certainly doesn't feel like a Garfield movie whatsoever. Humour was hit or miss and the worst part is I've never seen so many advertisements in a kid's animated movie ever, I had to remind myself it wasn't a 90-minute Super Bowl ad. Chris Pratt as Garfield worked and the rest of the voice cast were fine.

The animation, Samuel L. Jackson's voice, and Jinx - This is the complete list of positives from the Garland Movie. The writing is bad, the connection to characters is weak, and the dramatic piano music for every single emotional scene throughout the entire film is amateur at best.

I liked the Catflix videos in the credits, otherwise it was entirely forgettable.

Go and watch one of the other much better animated movies from this year like Inside Out 2 or Robot Dreams, even Kung Fu Panda 4 was a stronger movie which isn't saying a whole lot. It's not in the territory of horrendously terrible in most ways, it's just really not worth the time spent watching this.

@esseth The fact that Kung Fu Panda 4, with all its behind the scenes nonsense was ultimately a better movie is astounding, I fully agree with you on that.
