Unsure of what to do next, 23-year-old Marnie tries her best to navigate life after college. Still partying like there's no tomorrow, Marnie drags herself out of bed for her miserable temp job and can't decide whether she's wasting her time going after best buddy Alex, who doesn't seem to be interested.

its like watching a nature documentary but with humans

Was very shocked to find out this wasn’t a female-directed/written project. Very in tune with the realities of post-school early adult life. Despite being now two decades old it feels just as relatable as I’m sure it must have been when it came out.

After watching _Frances Ha_ (2012) and loving it, I was wanting to find similar films. _Funny Ha Ha_ is supposed to be one of the best or possibly the first mumblecore movie. I, sadly, found it lacking. I like where it was going, but then the ending, or lack there of, just blindsided me. This is a slow, talky indie drama that follows our main character, Marnie, as she just tries to navigate life. We spend the entire first act just getting to know her; Okay, bold choice, but I can dig it. The second act does pick up the pace, and moves right into the third, but then it just stops. Look, I can deal with open endings. I can deal with the mundane dialog, and no real story to speak of. Fine, but give me something solid to make the journey worth it. Not a bad movie, I really liked Marnie, but that's part of the problem: I feel like we got dropped into the life of a stranger, only to just as abruptly be ejected from her life once we got to know her. What was the point? I'd recommend this to fans of micro-budget indie dramas. Just keep in mind that there's no story and no ending.
