This is an acquired taste, and I’m still not entirely sure if its my type of comedy (coming from someone who typically likes absurdist, quirky humour). I did find it amusing, but it feels a little disposable as a whole. It doesn’t do much with its Austin Powers-esque take on superheroes, that’s just a framing device to present three different, disconnected shorts. These shorts are decent, but the concepts aren’t mindblowing, and there’s not enough time to get you emotionally invested in the characters. Still, this can be appreciated for its originality, technical aspects and experimentation. 5/10

A pointedly half-arsed shaggy dog story with several others nested within it, this plays like a clearing house for ideas that the writer/director doesn’t want to flesh out but likes too much to throw away. Or maybe all of his movies are like this, I haven’t seen any of the others. Amusing but very slight.

Smoking Causes Coughing is like eating food you find on a bus station bench in a strange town at 4am, and why wouldn't you?

Like that dumpster dived dinner, Dupieux's annual delirium this year comes in bits and pieces.
