A critique I had for the past three entries is that none of the already established final girls were kept for the next entry. ***A New Beginning*** breaks that curse with Tommy and I was excited for a short while but he's barely in the movie at all and I don't like what they did with him. The kid version in the previous was way cooler, he was somehow the calmest person in the room but now I guess he's deeply traumatized and broken. I don't see how someone who can manipulate and kill a serial killer can become so traumatized. I did like the hallucinations and nightmares he got in the first act and I wish we got more of that.

Meanwhile you have Jason who's back from the grave and dumber than ever, really don't like him in the third act he was laughable (or is that the point?) I also dislike the final girl, all she does is scream annoyingly and never in a hundred years would someone like that make it in this situation. I liked the redneck stew lady and her son though, they were so funny. A bit more creative with the kills this time but they're still too brief. It's also lacking focus and a reason to exist as a movie, it focuses on all these bubble storylines of people getting killed but there's no central story and so I didn't care for any of the characters. Weakest third act sinse the original, I can't stand all these dumb characters and storylines... this is a bad new beginning.
