McCarthy and Ringwald are good in this 80's drama, though the film isn't always as compelling as it should be. It's more interesting for early performances from Ben Stiller and Viggo Mortensen, who went on to have more successful careers than the two leads here.

I was in the mood to watch _Pretty in Pink_ (1986), but it wasn't available, so I saw this; made only two years later, has Molly Ringwald, and Matt Larkin in a love story, it should be similar, right? Wrong!
Do not go into this thinking it's a fun '80s comedy, it is not.
