Who was it that trapped themselves with their longing for freedom? And who, after all the chaos, finally learned to truly embrace it? Fireflies without a home—if they still can’t find peace wherever they land, then that’s the real misfortune. Ramin certainly yearns for his own version of freedom, but if you take a closer look at the places he dreams of going, they’re really just cages of a different kind. Instead, perhaps it would be better to firmly plant his feet in the present land—maybe that’s where true freedom can be found. The film is rather fragmented, and the themes across the different storylines aren’t clearly expressed. Everything wraps up in a vague, unclear way. It’s a bit of a pity, really—for both the subject matter and the cast.
