From the first time I got to watch this which was in a packed theatre at a queer film festival, I’ve had such a soft spot for this film. The cast is stellar which a chemistry that lifts the film to such joy and the shots of Fire Island are gorgeous! Each relationship has its own specialness you have to appreciate, whether it’s Booster and Yang, Booster and Ricamora, Rogers and Matos—and Margaret Cho is the absolute cherry on top! Love the film and am so grateful it got a commentary track with Ahn and Booster for all the insight into the making of this. I wish it will one day get a 4K physical release, too.

So it's like Gay Pride and Prejudice, and I've loved every second of it. If you are a lover of Jane Austen's work like me, and you don't mind the modern reinventions of her works, this is the movie for you, each of the important scenes is here reinterpreted to perfection... the heavy but adorable sisters, the talkative mother, the parties and dances, the main characters arguing in the rain, even Mr. Darcy's letter to Elisabeth explaining what a bad person Mr. Wickham is, but all with changed names of course and genders, well all guys. I am a hopeless romantic, and this film has been super romantic, sexy and fun. More like this, please.

Best gay Asian adaptation of Pride and Prejudice I have ever seen. The only version I am aware of. Never expect something like this to exist but I'm so glad it did. This felt like the Crazy Rich Asians moment for gay Asians representation. The acting was great. The writing was great. Production values were excellent.

This was a good movie that I fully understand that other people will appreciate it much more than I do. As a straight to demand (in this case Hulu) film, it is a lighthearted movie that’s a decent rom com. First things first, rom coms are not really my go to genre. I think they are generally cliche and cheesy, and easily forgettable. This isn’t necessarily the case with Fire Island. It pushed beyond normal rom com in a couple of ways (even if it is cheesy and cliche at points), and I surely won’t forget it. Because of that, it is a good and watchable rom com, even if I’m not the target audience. Rating: 3/5 - 7.5/10 - Worth Watching
