It is impossible to watch this movie and not realize that we have either seen or read something (or many things!) before, that were clearly inspired by this. And still, this piece shines above them, almost 60 years later. What a great fun it was to experience it!

Surreal and creepy story about a plastic surgeon that kidnaps women with the help of his assistant. They remove their faces and tries to transplant to her daughter's face whose face was totally destroyed in a car accident. The interesting thing about it is that theres something beautiful in this insane story. The music score perfectly suits the film and helped to create the dark atmosphere, the acting is strong and the cinematography is very good. The use of silent scenes in the film were important to increase the tension and the suspense. This story made me remind of Pedro Almodóvar's film The Skin I live in.

This movie was a bit slower-paced than I was expecting, and than I prefer, but it was still quite good, and it's impossible to ignore the impact it had on future media. At the time, I can see how it would have been terrifying, that someone could attempt this kind of thing. The scene where a face is surgically removed (and the camera doesn't really cut away, though it is at a discreet distance) made me squirm, because I'm not good with that sort of thing. It must have been shocking for viewers of the 60s. Definitely worth a watch, if only for the cinema history. Just don't go in expecting anything like current horror.

[7.1/10] The cool thing about foreign films is that they give you a glimpse into another culture and a different way of looking at familiar ideas. The cool thing about classic films is that they communicate different values and social anxieties that we may feel differently about today. So films whic More

The best way to describe _Eyes without a Face_ is a classic Universal monster movie, by way of Hitchcock. Think _Frankenstein_, and The Phantom of the Opera_ if Doctor Frankenstein were trying to fix the Phantom's face.
What are the highlights? Christiane is at the top of the list. She's really wha More

This is a fine film. I can see how aspects of it may have influenced other movies. For some reason, I always thought this movie was older, but it was released in 1960. It does have the feel of an older film.

Some of the production and cinematography are wonderful. I especially enjoyed several More
