Elise thought she had the perfect life: an ideal boyfriend and a promising career as a ballet dancer. It all falls apart the day she catches him cheating on her with her stage backup; and after she suffers an injury on stage, it seems like she might not be able to dance ever again.

The story isn’t one of a kind, but if you can let the movie reach out to you and grab your hand, it’ll take you to places you had long forgotten.

Like tapas for dinner, there's a lot of side dishes but where's the main course? First and most important of all, Rise / En Corps made me like watching dance, which shocked me, I'm not going to lie. You know me, I'm a nice guy but culturally illiterate so anything that has art in it is so far over my head I get dizzy. Standing ovation, therefore, to Rise for helping me get into fancy stuff. This story of a classical ballerina (the stunning Marion Barbeau, a real life ballerina) who questions her path after she trips over the light fantastic works best when it sticks with dance. Unfortunately, it frequently strays from that premise and tries to cover so much ground (her love life, her dance life, her father, her life choices...) that it doesn't do justice to any of the subjects.

We are treated to some fine ballet at the start of this film before prospective star "Elise" (Marion Barbeau) goes over on her ankle. It's not the first time this has happened, and the prognosis from the doctors is not good. A broken bone and loads of swelling might necessitate surgery and, well, no More

Unwatchable.

Perhaps if you can stream it somewhere without HDR, or you just don't have an HDR TV, like my 85-inch OLED, you'll be able to see it in SDR, which I'm assuming might be watchable.

Otherwise, you're left with a dark mess, with day shots looking like night shots and night shots look More
