What can I say, but a disappointment from Blanchett & the film! I had expected greatness, since it was yet another Academy Award nomination & she wasn't simply the budding actress but an award winning & practiced professional now.

But the more mature & cemented Elizabeth fell flat & lacked dimension. The only slightly interesting bit I found was with the volta dance scene and the quick flashbacks. And pls don't get me started on the sad attempt at a "Braveheart speech".

Both films however inspired me to look up more about Elizabeth I & that is a win in my book!

Her final monologue at this end of this film stood out to me. There is power. There is loneliness. With good music, good cinematography, and good monologue, the delivery was grand!
