What a pile of garbage. I had many problems with this, compounded by one major problem I will touch on at the end.
Anyway! Have you ever seen _Frankenstein_ (1931)? Well, this is _Frankenstein_, except that it is not entertaining.
Now, imagine that instead of Doctor Frankenstein being the focus, Fritz is - yes, Fritz was the hunchback assistant; Igor didn't pop up until a few movies later. Then, add some _Hunchback of Notre Dame_ (1923), and you have this.
The only reason I wanted to watch this is because of Paul Naschy, but he is not helping one bit. In fact, his portrayal of the sympathetic hunchback, who the ladies can't get enough of, is absurd.
The story is a total mess that drags, making this feel more like one long act, rather than a full movie. Every piece of this feels thrown together.
I'm not going to waste any more time on that.
The key reason I hate this movie is due to the gross animal abuse. There are scenes in this where live rats are set on fire. What a disgusting display of psychopathy. I want you to imagine being in a room with someone who tells you they burn rats for fun. What would you think of this person? If you have an ounce of humanity, you'd rightly think they are mentally unhinged.
Animals are not things. Animals are not here for our entertainment. Animals feel pain.
Fuck this movie. Fuck Javier Aguirre.
