Ebola Syndrome is a rather nasty piece of HK Category III exploitation, and was one of those "holy shit" movies when I watched it the first time back in the late 90s. We get murder (of both adults and kids), rape, cannibalism, Ebola (of course), and good old fashion general depravity. Herman Yau is a master of these kinds of things, and together with Anthony Wong, he's made some of the most infamous Cat III movies there is, with this one right near the top.

The weird thing about Ebola Syndrome is that it's so over-the-top that everything gets funny in a way. Don't get me wrong... There are moments in this that are rather stomach churning... even for veterans of Cat III movies like me, but these days I laugh more than I feel sick. I guess that says something about how much shit like this I have consumed over the years.

This is certainly not for everyone, and if you are in doubt... don't try it. There's much more palatable Cat III movies to be had. But if you feel up to it, the best way is to get the Vinegar Syndrome 4K release, with both a great transfer and great extras.
